This project supported by National Council for Science & Technology Communications (NCSTC), Department of Science & Technology (DST), GoI, aims to ignite the young minds of our country and hone their innate skills by fostering scientific temper to turn this creative force into a harbinger of societal change leading to an empowered society as youth is an epitome of energy as much as it is synonymous to a fresh perspective while addressing any issue. The project on one hand intends to infuse an innovative idea of creating Science Media, in the young minds of future leaders of India addressing various ecological and/or environmental issues, in diverse forms like storytelling, case studies narratives, multimedia clippings etc. and invoke a biophilic mindset while seeking solutions to such problems, through holding pan India Science Media competitions , on the other hand it creates an opportunity for the best of young minds to be mentored by the national experts to hone their skills. The media then presented by the young minds would be selected for Youth Science Media Challenge Awards.

This project promoting Science media with rich narratives is also an attempt to combine science and creativity to shift our thinking and spur action in a changing world and serves as a tool to create the bridge connecting science literacy with scientific literacy to be the impetus for sustainable development.

The Science media creations developed by the undergraduates as part of the youth science media challenge based on various themed challenges, will be assessed by experts and the best of creative minds will be mentored for enhancing their skills. The idea is to weave a new fabric of narratives using the thread of scientific backing around the various ecological and environmental issues in an interesting way in the various media forms that can be effective tools of learning, leaving an impact on communities and enhancing their awareness.
